Division of Colon & Rectal Surgery
At NYU Langone Health’s Division of Colon and Rectal Surgery in the Department of Surgery, our mission is to provide world-class clinical care for bowel-related conditions that improves patient outcomes and quality of life, train tomorrow’s leaders in in the field, and conduct research that innovates surgical techniques.
Our Clinical Excellence
In addition to providing surgical treatments for colon and rectal cancer, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), and diverticular disease, our surgeons treat functional bowel disorders including fecal incontinence, slow transit constipation, rectal prolapse, anorectal conditions such as hemorrhoids, and fistulas and fissures.
We use the latest in diagnostic and treatment options with an emphasis on minimally invasive techniques such as robotic surgery, transanal minimally invasive surgery, and transanal total mesorectal excision. These procedures make it possible for patients to avoid permanent colostomy after treatment of rectal cancer.
Members of our faculty pioneer new surgical treatments and techniques. Ours was the first team in the Northeast to use minimally invasive robotic technology to remove large rectal polyps and early rectal cancer through the anus, resulting in a shorter hospital stay and quicker recovery.
Colorectal Surgery Fellowship
Our commitment to excellence in the field begins with ensuring residents, fellows, and medical students receive the highest-quality education available. We offer a Colorectal Surgery Fellowship through the Division of Colon and Rectal Surgery.
